In their dancing pose. The piece next to them is a technique we learned to create hard formed fabric shapes and they are on a stand Wendy and Toby taught us to make (they are great teachers) but the doll can stand on her/their own too.

New doll made for the Wendy Froud doll sculpture class. This was the advanced class where the doll had to be completed beforehand and then we brought them in and learned techniques and new materials. I had wanted to use marbles for eyes for awhile so took this opportunity to do it so the eyes are clear marbles and you can see right into the heads of the dolls and the light catches in a really pretty way. I liked that they looked blind but all-seeing at once. The process was difficult in my home but when the dolls got to the class Wendy had them in the oven for a while after and it helped finish the sculpy since my toaster oven pretty much is junk and only works for just that.. toast. Toby also teaches and created the pattern for the double corset and then I cut and shaped the vari-form and the end effect was 100% better than I hoped it would be. I had purchased a small black leather purse in a thrift store to cut up for the leather but this is better. I may cover the feet in the leather and could still cover the vari-form in it but not feeling like risking how pretty it is now, maybe later. The hair is a continous length of hand dyed mohair, I love extreme rustic hair and kept it complete to preserve the beautiful dye shades and textures. I placed small black mohair yarn on top to create lines. They have two torsos and share hips and legs. Still have some tweaking to do but was very happy with them and had to take a few pictures :)

The pix here will be back, it's a new photo service and they got suddenly bigger in business and all the pix (most of them) will be down until end of Feb because they are growing and doing an upgrade so all the pix will be back. I don't want to abandon them right in the middle of their improvements so I am just going to say I'll wait and see if everything goes back to normal by end of Feb and see what happens if not I'll move it all to Flickr :) You can always come to http://www.bratzworld.tv and see them on BratzPix2 in the photo section! :)

Made 'way back in July 2002 when we still gleaned Mary Kate and Ashley dolls for Bratz and Blythe Fashions. Lots of toys starred in this story about a fund raiser for an animal shelter and some fun afterward with the Lollipops! :)

Fun Days with MGA and the Bratz

10/1 - 10/2
MGA invited me to help out with Toy Wishes, the event for reporters to come see what to expect for the holidays. It was great to see my MGA friends, and it was like Christmas morning in a huge family (I assume! LOL) assembling all kinds of cute toys and setting up nice displays. Watching the big pretty booth go from an empty space to the great display was impressive.
I came back for a tiny bit the second day but had to leave due to an art job crisis LOL, what can ya' do. It was fun with many hours spent with good friends fun toys and a great display for the Bratz and MGA again!

Malan Breton's Fashion Week show 9/12, Pete Wentz

I got to Style Lounge at about 10am on the day of Malan's show and Pete Wentz was there and had been there I was told since 9am working on a show of his own. He worked straight through to Malan's show and then stayed and sat in the front row. His cool lounge Angels and Kings / AK-47 is the ground floor of my building here in NYC so it was funny seeing him there. He is a very sweet person. AK-47 is a great place with really nice people working there. Come by and have a drink sometime.
So in the mix of Pete and the camera crew Malan Breton was preparing for his stunning Fashion Week show. The usual missing model drama that so many designers have happened but didn't stop the show. Melrose, wrongfully called bitchy by ANTM was an angel helping and trying on the fashions to fill in for the missing girl and when a model had a bad cough had some friendly folks go out and get her some tea. Every time I have met her Melrose has been amazing and sweet, I think the America's Next Top Model season she appeared in just needed a villain and played up the stress to make her look like that kind of person via editing but from my experiences with her it's NOT true. Project Runway seemed to try to make Malan into a bad boy and the opposite is true he is one of the sweetest people you'll ever meet. No sewing from me this time I have some cool art projects you'll hear about soon-ish that have been swamping me (happily so). I feel lucky to have him in my life and as part of my family in this world.

Another perfect "working" b-day, three days with Wendy Froud and the dollmaking class. Seeing people from previous classes come back was wonderful. Making new friends very nice :) Dinner at Lil Frankies.. just hit rewind now please so I can do it all again.

Handmade doll, sculpted, sewn, painted, (jewel pieces front and back were also handmade but not by me, a gift for the doll) mohair, mohair /silk dyed yarn, linen, batting and acrylics. She has very pale blue eyes. Rough edges are intentional I am not fond of super perfection (just me, nothing against others doing it) but I like a rag doll spirit in art.

Here she is with her sisters from before..

Like my previous dolls I love her and she is even nicer in person where you can see all her colors. The hair came out so nice. Her legs are wrapped in varicolored mohair/silk yarn (previous doll's legs are wrapped in french deco ribbon, I love that slightly mummy feel) and the colors are nice earthy deep and sunset hues.

Bratz Toy Fair 2007 Report

Seriously surreal month- sometimes me and the pets are bored! LOL Not this time :) This month I had Fashion Week prep and Toy Fair and my job test- any ONE of which would have been a lot to have in a few weeks but they all happened AT THE SAME TIME !! :)

Bratz Toy Fair 2007 Report!

Sorry its like a zombie wrote it but I really wanted to get this to you guys. Was also nice seeing all the MGAr's again, will see my friends later this week too so any clarifications ask before wednesday and I will ask- and the design people always say how they love Bratz World ideas and things so keep sending them in and posting them here. They gave me the Sweetheart dolls Yasmin Lilee and Phoebe so if anyone wants pix later ask me which ones you want. I also got a Pixiez CD and a few things might be added to the Hair Style Prizes,,,, Also a cute alarm Bratz clock.. oh boy I have to get back to prep for my job test review. I have a "report" from Fashion Week too but haven't had time to put it together yet- you guys are top priority and sorry it took so long! :)
