| Lolita picnic baskets.. |
[09 May 2008|03:58pm] |
So, at least for me, it's this time of the year again, when you can wear you lolita clothes without a jacket and you can start doing picnic again, so I'm asking this simple question.. How does you lolita picnic basket look?

| celga question(s) |
[09 May 2008|06:12am] |
I did a search but didn't really find the information i was looking for.
How long does it usually take Celga to refund your money on and unsuccessful auction/whatever after you request a refund? Or let me put it this way, it's been 5 days since i first requested a refund, how much should I be bugging them about this? And is the billing@celga.com the right email for this kind or inquiry?

| from Bill Gates |
[09 May 2008|05:25pm] |
Love him or hate him, he sure hits the nail on the head with this! Bill Gates recently gave a speech at a High School about 11 things they did not and will not learn in school. He talks about how feel-good, politically correct teachings created a generation of kids with no concept of reality and how this concept set them up for failure in the real world.
Rule 1 : Life is not fair - get used to it!
Rule 2 : The world won't care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you feel good about yourself.
Rule 3 : You will NOT make $60,000 a year right out of high school. You won't be a vice-president with a car phone until you earn both.
Rule 4 : If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss.
Rule 5 : Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your Grandparents had a different word for burger flipping: they called it opportunity.
Rule 6: If you mess up, it's not your parents' fault, so don't whine about your mistakes, learn from them.
Rule 7: Before you were born, your parents weren't as boring as they are now. They got that way from paying your bills, cleaning your clothes and listening to you talk about how cool you thought you were. So before you save the rain forest from the parasites of your parent's generation, try delousing the closet in your own room.
Rule 8: Your school may have done away with winners and losers, but life HAS NOT. In some schools, they have abolished failing grades and they'll give you as MANY TIMES as you want to get the right answer. This doesn't bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real life.
Rule 9: Life is not divided into semesters. You don't get summers off and very few employers are interested in helping you FIND YOURSELF. Do that on your own time..
Rule 10: Television is NOT real life. In real life people actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs.
Rule 11: Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for one.
If you agree, pass it on. If you can read this - Thank a teacher!

| London MCM Expo |
[09 May 2008|09:58am] |
For those who hadn't noticed yet, it was announced yesterday that Maruione.jp will be attending this month's London MCM Expo (see the second announcement on the page). There's also going to be a fashion show from a group called Euro Japan Comic, including gothic and lolita clothing for which they're currently looking for models, though they do specify that they want them to be teenagers. Just a heads-up for anyone who is going!
On that note, who else is going? I'll be there, working as usual (behind the Beez stall this time- do come and say hi!), but will hopefully mooch enough time off to check out the Marui One stall and watch the fashion show. :)

Atelier Boz is now at Marui One as well!! (check newslolita for more updates)
And just a note about the squeaky wheel getting the oil in the lolita world, I asked Marui to stock a specific item and they said that they hadn't been planning on stocking it but that they would try to get it and lo and behold, they put it up today!

| Ever so slight OT- platform shoes |
[08 May 2008|10:11pm] |
Hi everyone- So those of you who are on daily_lolita and sew_loli have seen a hint of the craziness that is our Scavenger hunt here at the University of Chicago. I'm currently needing a little help on one of the items. Shoe wise- I don't really have platforms or heeled shoes persay because I'm rather tall. So for those of you who do in fact own platform/tall shoes, what is the base of it made of? The item is the tallest shoes you've ever seen. So I'm thinking platforms. I know that the VW rocking horse shoes are made of wood, but what kind of wood? What else is used for other shoes? Thanks everyone!

Wow...this almost makes up for all the rotten stuff that happened to me this afternoon. Granted it only includes six episodes, but it has all of my favorites except the one with Lord Byron. Plus there is a heap of new bonus material not included in the Highlander: The Series dvd sets. This is getting a prized spot on the movie shelf right next to Doctor Who: Series 2 and the Pride & Prejudice deluxe gift set.
The only trouble is, I must wait for it until July T_T

Heeeeeeeeeee ^_^
